Taking Control

Whenever I ask advice or read books on how I can enhance my skills in a certain area, somewhere down the line it involves discipline. Discipline is just another word for control, and I am learning that it is not easy taking control of my life. What I mean is I might have my mind set on something and I will later realize that it is not so easy to achieve my goal if I am not consistent with my work. My favorite example is reading a certain amount of books by the end of the week, I fail every time, but I do not feel bad about it. Every Sunday, I try again and one day I will achieve my goal but I have to remain disciplined. The same goes for working out or just a bucket list even. There have been days I just did not feel motivated to get up and do things I promised myself I would do before. Sometimes things interfere with my plans but other times I just simply don’t do what I had planned. This isn’t about living life on a schedule, but remaining consistent with things we want to achieve. I remind myself often to work twice as hard on the days I do not feel like doing the work because I am more likely to be lazy on those days. We all have goals we want to accomplish, but it does no good to just thing of things you want to get done without any action. I thought it would be helpful to give an example how to keep track of your goals:
1 Write goal(s)
2 List what resources are needed to accomplish your goal(s)
3 Create a schedule on days and times you would like to work on your goal(s)
4 Create a deadline (I don’t, but some people like the pressure)
5 Make an attempt to stick to that schedule
