DON'T GET LAZY

I have learned many lessons this year and one lesson being, don’t get lazy about anything, and here’s why: You only grow from where you left off.

I have a great habit of looking back and seeing where I went wrong or seeing how I could have done things differently. I also have a great habit of creating a plan, working towards my plan, then slowly, but gradually coming to a stop. There are many reasons why I take a halt towards my goals, but one reason I cannot shake off is just being straight-out lazy. I get bored easily and I like to see the progress immediately and when I don’t see the results I want in the timeframe I imagined, I move on to the next task or goal, because why not? That is a lot of loose screws over time. And over time, I’ll look back and think how much further I could have gone, if I just stayed the course.

When I look back at my past jobs and what I have listed on my resume, I like to remind myself that I could have done much better. I was not bad at my work, but I got comfortable. I stopped putting in much effort and that energy carries on to the next job. When you have a big image in your head of who you want to be and where you want to go, you have to act as if it is right around the corner and you need to get ready for it. Imagine the career of your dreams called you today and offered you a job to start tomorrow. Of course, they’ll train you for the specific job title, but would you be prepared mentally and physically to get going? Or imagine if the person of your dreams sent you a message to go out the next day, have you done enough personal growth and reflection to be able to go out with this person and make it last or let alone worthwhile? You must always be ready for whatever comes your way, good or bad, and that can only be done through preparation and consistency.

Going into the new year, I would highly suggest that you come up with at LEAST 3 GOALS you wish to accomplish and that’s it. This will require you to really analyze those goals and plan how you will accomplish each one throughout the year. This will also require you to stay the course and cut out certain distractions that will take you away from your well-thought-out and planned goal. An example would be learning patience, this does not require a dime, but A LOT of physical, emotional, mental, and even spiritual strength. You must learn to recognize what makes you impatient and you must learn to create habits that will ease your impatience whether it be waiting in a long line, waiting to buy a new item, or waiting for the next person to finish speaking so you can have the floor.

Your goal should be something that will take you to the next level personally and should make you feel good. Remind yourself that what you are doing is for a purpose and no one else needs to know about it unless you want to share.

I hope whatever your goals are for the NEW YEAR that you accomplish each and everyone and that you continue growing in a positive direction.
